Ronaldo, Kaka could debut for Madrid in Ireland
Ronaldo

MADRID: Real Madrid's world record transfer signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka could debut for the Spanish side on July 20 in a friendly match against Shamrock Rovers in Dublin, the Spanish club said Monday on its Web site.

Shamrock Rovers said the match, to be played at in the 3,500 seater Tallaght Stadium, is sold out.

"Shamrock Rovers F.C. members and season ticket holders purchased over 3,000 tickets in the 48 hour window over the weekend," the Irish club said.

Madrid are to spend July 13-22 preparing for the new season at the Carton House training ground in Ireland said director general Jorge Valdano.

"We are delighted with the trip to Ireland we have prepared so as to begin this very important phase in our preseason training," Valdano said.

"We know Shamrock Rovers is a very important team in Ireland and playing against them is going to suit us very well in our preparation," Valdano said.

Madrid have agreed to pay Manchester United a record 80 million pounds ($131 million) for Ronaldo and Kaka was signed from AC Milan for a reported fee of around euro65 million ($92 million).

Tevez departure may wreck United… or not..
Tevez

It was last night, when Manutd received a call from
Carlos Tevez’s advisors that he (Carlos) will not be signing a new contract
with the Club.

The Club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5m and
offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its
highest paid players. Despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the
Club’s most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for
Manchester United.

Well my own opinion is as a fan, is that Tevez is a
tremendous player. A player which you can rely on down the stretch. According
to ex-reds Lou Macari, "I think he would have been a regular in the team
next season had he stayed. Ronaldo's going, so Tevez would be needed." "He
was a well-liked player at Old Trafford and it will be a big loss to
everyone."

Well it’s true. A player like Tevez was very much a part of
the Manchester United and I think he's been even more disappointed that it has
to come to the fact that the loan deal finishes.

Joorabchian admitted his client would be leaving Old
Trafford with a heavy heart. "He's had two years at club and enjoyed two
great years. They've won two Premier League titles, one Champions League title,
one Carling Cup in his time and he's quite sad.

"They didn't really give him any offers for two years. Over the
duration of two years there was a lot of talk about signing him but we never
actually got to the point of actually receiving any offers for him.

"The offer of Manchester United was a very good offer. It came about 10
days ago. It was the loan price of £9million plus the final option price of
£25.5million. They made him a good contract but Carlos needed time.

"I want to make it very, very clear: we never ever at any time asked
them for more money, or any kind of money - never at any point during the last
two years.

Tevez is certainly not short of options, with new Chelsea
boss Carlo Ancelotti keen to lure the former Boca Juniors star to Stamford Bridge.

Yet Manchester City are the favourites to confirm Tevez's capture, having made Joorabchian an offer said to be well in excess of United's.

Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck impressed last term and may be expected
to have more involvement as United chase an unprecedented fourth successive
title.

The club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two
seasons and wishes him good luck for the future.

Sir Bobby Charlton: Our pride was hurt!

lIverpool vs Manu 4-1

Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has
backed United to rediscover their form after the humiliating defeat to
Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men were thrashed 4-1 by their bitter rivals at Old Trafford on Saturday.

But according to the Sun, United great Charlton believes the shock loss can spur them on.

He said: "I think there was just a little bit of stress because we kept on winning matches.

"It helps to maybe turn the gas down a little bit and a lot of pressure's maybe eased.

"I'm hoping we're going to do better because of this result.

"It wasn't a result anybody at Manchester United could be proud of but you

have to say Liverpool played really well and deserved to win."

It was United's heaviest home defeat since losing by the same scoreline to QPR in 1992.

But Charlton has no doubt boss Ferguson will soon pick his side up.

The England legend added: "He will make sure they get their confidence back.

"It's a bit of a blow - to lose four goals at home hasn't been done for so many years.

"There's bit of pride been hurt there, but I don't think he'll have to work too hard to rejuvenate them.

"But work he will. Getting to the end of the season, all matches are important.

"When the next one comes along next week I'm sure he'll be ready for it."

United remain on course to win a remarkable quintuple this season and Charlton

believes the current squad could be the greatest ever.

He said: "It is a very good squad with a lot of good players.

"I think maybe if they win the Champions League you could say that is maybe the best squad that's been here."

Park pleased with decisive assist

Ji-Sun-PArk

Ji-sung Park was delighted to play his part in the Reds' 2-1 victory at Newcastle after setting up Dimitar Berbatov to fire the winner.

The Korean winger intercepted an attempt from Ryan Taylor to chest the ball back to Magpies stopper Steve Harper, before poking the ball to Berbatov to tap home from close range.

"I saw what the defender was trying to do, but he didn't get it right and I was able to keep the ball moving," recalled Park in an interview with MUTV.

"I knew I couldn't score because the keeper was quite close to me so, but then I saw Berba. I wasn't sure if the ball would get to him, but I was delighted when I saw he'd put it in the net."

Having seen Liverpool and Chelsea temporarily close the gap on United 24 hours earlier, Park says it was vital the Reds left St. James' Park with all three points and maintained their healthy advantage at the top of the table.

"It was a great win for us. Our rivals had won the night before so it was important we increased the distance between us and them," he insisted.

"We experienced how it feels to be chased last season, but we enjoy the challenge of every game. There was a bit of pressure on us, but I think that can be a good thing because it means you are fully concentrated on the game.

"It's nice to be seven points ahead and we also have a game in hand on our rivals," added the 28-year-old.

"But we're not taking anything for granted, we want to keep our performances going and concentrate on every game. By doing that, we hope the title will be ours at the end of the season."
